Hearts Burst Into Fire...

Mood: Artistic
Listening to: Hearts Burst Into Fire - Bullet For My Valentine
And WOW, again. Lot's of fun stuff has been happening kids.

At the beginning of the month, I won tickets to SONISPHERE (MAAAN). It's like a big metal festival that went on for about 3 days. Tom drove me, we camped with Rob and a few others (made some new friends!) and Scott turned up during the days cos he had work.

Metallica and Linkin Park were headlining, but obviously I was much more enthused about the fact that AVENGED SEVENFOLD and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE were playing!
Needless to say, both bands were amazing. Although the pits were pretty brutal and I got knocked away from the front spots on both occassions.
I also saw Alien Ant Farm (ooh the nostalgia!), Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Airbourne, Feeder, Limp Bizkit (more nostalgia), Alice In Chains and a few smaller bands.
Yeah so we waiting about 3 hours just to see Bullet. In that time, we had a bottle of piss thrown over us... but luckily, the good ol' British weather kicked in and it proceeded to pour down. Unfortunately we were left looking like this...

Airbourne were on before Bullet, but they were definately worth watching! Joel O'Keefe decided he was going to climb the PA tower in the pissing rain and play a guitar solo, was pretty scary/awesome to see. He came down to the front as well, I HIGH FIVED HIM. Boo yeah

I'm in there, I swear!

Then Bullet finally came on the stage. Matt Tuck has such shiney hair, he should be in a pantene advert. Oh and he was wearing wellies. Win.

Next day was Avenged Sevenfold. Fortunately there was no piss this time around! I made this shirt in honour of the occassion..

It was definately strange to see them in the flesh, but amazing nonetheless! Tom was right at the front (lucky bastard) and even got himself in Kerrang! the next week...

We also got a sneaky peak of them on the bus backstage afterwards. Good times!

Okay so I would leave it there, just a few more updates and then I'm done!

In the past few weeks, we finished recording the song that was originally just going to be our single, Streetlight Romance. However, the engineer did such an amazing job that we decided to do the whole 9 yards and record an EP. Hopefully it'll be released sometime next year and we'll start getting some better gigs and more fans!

In lighter news, I just got back from a week camping in Cornwall with Scott. It was Cornish pasties and beaches galore! Oh and we passed Joss Stone on the motorway on the way home. Certainly beats high-fiving Joel O'Keefe...

..okay, maybe not ;)

Peace out.

Filling the gaps!

Fuck, wow. It's been almost 3 months.

Well, obviously I have finished all my exams and had study leave/induction, which was all pityfully boring. However, we've played a lot of gigs in the last 2 months! We're gradually getting ourselves known locally and it's not even a hassle to land gigs anymore.. we just get offered them. Admittedly we've made a lot of good friends through bands who've helped us out, hopefully we'll get the oppertunity to do the same for them at some point.

Anyhoo,
I'll give you some pictures...

So yeah, we have a few more dates coming up but I think we're gonna be recording soon and writing some new material for setlists etc. I'm looking forward to it...

In non-band related news (almost) ...

Me and Scott hit the year mark in June ! We went down to London to celebrate, although it wasn't until a month later... but it was a really awesome day out, especially as I hadn't seen him for a week! Luckily we're buggaring off to Cornwall in August, really excited!

I FINALLY got a bass/amp. After so many months of lusting, it is finally mine...

(Yes this means more pictures)

It isn't pink like I originally intended... but I'm glad I opted for red. Isn't it pretty?

I don't think that there's much more worth updating you on...

Right that's it for now!

Peace.

So many thousands of feet off the ground.

Mood: I DON'T KNOWWWW
Listening to: Remembering Sunday - All Time Low

Wahey. 3 more hours of Art examination to go.

It's going okay actually, the painting isn't as diabolical as I predicted... but there is still plenty of time for it to go wrong!

Ah well, all the rest of my exams are next week. Then I have a whole month of sweet FA... jeez I'm gonna get fat.

Been browsing through the old chatlogs. Sadly I couldn't find anything earlier than July 2008, so I couldn't reminisce over the "I-think-he-likes-me-but-I'm-not-sure" days with Scott (although I have a gazillion private blogs detailing the events). But July was only a month after we started going out.. so I still got to go "aww" at our timid asses.

On that subject, HOLY SHIT - it's almost been a whole frikkin year for us. Even though I fell for him in the grand total of 1.5 months (didn't even make it to two! - pathetic) it still feels like a big deal. After a week it felt like a year... and now after a year it feels like a week!

Although we're not actually past a year yet. As with my art piece - there is always time for things to go horribly wrong. 3 weeks is no problem!

However, I think Scott has proven himself worthy in the face of my moodswings. If he ain't scared now, he probably never will be (or I'm gonna have to try a lot harder).

Okay well that was a wierd ramble,
I'm off to bed.

Peeeace.

Not Tonight

Mood: Amused
Listening to: Check - Zebrahead

Tonight's "gig" = Epic fail.

We were going to be playing Dan's friend's 18th party. However, we had to use the DJ's P.A. system... which unfortunately had a big, nasty noise limiter attached to it.

E.g. - Rob so much as dares to tap a symbol, and the power shuts off completely.

After we'd finished swearing at the box, we forgot where we were in the song before it shut off. The fifth time happened and we just gave up.

That's it, we surrendered to the system. boo.

The rest of the night was alright. The guys were pretty waste. A lot of people kept coming up and said "Hi Holly" and this resulted in confused "do-I-know-them" looks at Scott. Although it was cool, I made a few friends haha.

So we haven't been ridiculously lucky gigwise recently. Remix got cancelled on Friday because the promotors couldn't fucking organise themselves. The guy who actually booked us didn't even realise until we told him :(

However, despite that we've still got gigs coming at us left, right and center (BIKERFEST IN NORFOLK - BRING IT ON). At the end of the day it isn't a massive deal, there are a lot of bands worse off than us at the moment - I'm still amazed we even managed to tap the surface of the local circuit.

So to make up for lack of giggage on Friday, we (e.g. me, Scott, Tom, Rob, Jake etc) had a BBQ in the field opposite the lakes. My lightweightedness still wasn't functioning after a few smirnoffs, so I had to play dizzy dinosaurs to get properly merry... which was fun. It was a happy medium. I just hate waking up shitfaced.

Might post some pictures from tonight at some point.

tata for now

Peace.

I'm not your love monkey.

Mood: Embaressed
Listening to: Whyyawannabringmedown - Aranda

Oh man we really sucked last night. Not only did we suck, we fucking SWALLOWED. Bad times. I'm probably just being over critical, Scott and Dan did amazing... plus Dan's wrist was injured as it was (bruising to the bone or something). I was pretty terrible, my voice was going crazy from the amount of DC I drank and I kept playing everything wrong... and Rob had a few slip ups but they were probably my fault too =/

However, the guys from Cerberus were really awesome and they invited us back to play with them again.

I'm gonna practise like crazy this week and we'll hopefully be able to pull off Remix on Friday.

In slightly better news, I woke up this morning to be informed that some American girls have set up a myspace street team for us ! I didn't even realise we had fans, let alone ones that don't even know us.

Ok I'm off. Gonna try not to let last night destroy too much of my self esteem.

Peace.

Sleepless Nights.

Mood: Happy ^_^
Listening to: Don't Let Me Stop You - Kelly Clarkson (a pretty good album considering first single!)

My bass amp came today! Just gotta wait till June for the actual bass ¬_¬

Haha thank fuck it's the weekend. Went to Club 85 tonight and met up with Scott, Rob, Tom and some others to see Exit Avenue. Haven't seen EA since they played with My Passion last year, but it was an awesome gig. DJ Pdex was pretty sick as well. I so badly wanted to go party down the front but I felt too old to even be there as it was - about 85% of the audience consisted of 15 year old girls in neon tutu's (I realise that I'm only 2-3 years older, but let me wallow in my pool of mid-teenage-life-crisis).

Anyway, after a few beers (by a few, I actually mean 1 and a half) we were all dancing and myspace posing.
An almost picture of us ^_^ Bit rusty on the myspace angleing...

So that's proper put me in the mood for this gig tomorrow. We're playing Remix again(!) next weekend so it looks like we might become regulars. The most awesome part is that we're the ONLY live band and we're supporting a Futurehead's DJ set... and the Futurehead's supported the Foo's at Wembley!

Anyway, before I get too carried away with my ego... I should probably go to bed/write some lyrics for this new song.

Will update on tomorrow's gig asap.

"That's a lotta dough... bro"

Peace.
